OREGON — The Ogle County Board approved an ordinance last week establishing rules for the siting and operation of commercial battery energy storage systems. The ordinance outlines requirements for application, construction, operation, and decommissioning of such facilities to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws. It also sets safeguards to protect residents and property owners. Oversight of the ordinance will be managed by the County Zoning Administrator, County Engineer, Planning and Zoning Committee, and the County Board. The measure passed with a 15-7 vote.
