WINNEBAGO –– A Winnebago County mother convicted of medically abusing her children won’t get a new trial. The judge denied Kathryn Williams’ motion for a new trial after she was found guilty last year on multiple charges, including Aggravated Battery to a Child. Prosecutors say authorities began investigating Williams in August 2018 after receiving a report that she was insisting on medical care for two of her children that didn’t need it. Detectives found that both the children had feeding tubes and parts of their colon removed. It was determined that Williams reported exaggerated or false medical claims and medical diagnoses to medical professionals for both children which resulted in unnecessary medical treatment. Williams is scheduled to be sentenced in October.
