Winter Weather Returns

CHICAGO — The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for Ogle, Lee, Boone and Winnebago counties from 7 p.m. Sunday until 1 p.m. Monday, with 3 to 6 inches of snow expected and wind gusts up to 50 mph that could produce considerable blowing and drifting snow. Forecasters say visibility may drop below a quarter mile at times, creating near-blizzard conditions and making travel treacherous, particularly during the Monday morning commute. Roads are expected to become snow covered and slippery, and strong winds could bring down tree branches. Officials advise delaying travel if possible and urge drivers who must travel to use caution and carry emergency supplies such as blankets, food, water, a flashlight and a shovel.
