Tourism Growth and Economic Impact Continue to Rise in Lee County

DIXON — Tourism in Lee County continues to grow with strong visitor numbers and economic impact, according to a report presented to the Lee County board last week by Lucas Pauly, Marketing Director at Discover Dixon and Visit Lee County. The county recorded more than 551,000 trips and 787,000 visitor nights, with about 73% of visits involving overnight stays and an average stay of three days. Tourism generated an estimated $21.1 million in economic impact, up 18.4% from the previous year, with long distance visitors contributing about $8 million. Officials said most visitors come from nearby cities including Chicago, St. Louis, Minneapolis St. Paul, and Indianapolis.
