HOUSTON — Team USA defeated Canada 5-3 Friday in the quarterfinals of the 2026 World Baseball Classic at Daikin Park. The Americans built a 5-0 lead by the sixth inning with RBIs from Kyle Schwarber, Alex Bregman, Brice Turang and Pete Crow Armstrong. Canada rallied with a run from Tyler Black and a two run homer by Bo Naylor in the sixth, but the comeback fell short. Canada threatened again in the seventh with two runners on and no outs before the U.S. escaped with a pop out and two strikeouts. Mason Miller closed the game in the ninth as the United States advanced to face the Dominican Republic in the semifinal.
