SPRINGFIELD — The tax filing deadline is quickly approaching. The Illinois Department of Revenue is reminding taxpayers that April 15th is the deadline to file 2025 state individual income tax returns. Taxpayers are encouraged to file electronically and choose direct deposit in order to ensure the fastest processing and issuing of any refunds. The IDOR is also alerting taxpayers to changes by the United States Postal Service that could impact tax filings. The USPS postmark may no longer reflect the date when the piece of mail was dropped off at a local post office. This change can directly impact time-sensitive documents such as tax returns and payments.
