Tails Pet of the Week – Georgia

Pet of the week: Hi, my name is Georgia! I’m almost 4 years old, about 90 pounds (okay… I could stand to lose a little weight), and I’m looking for my forever home. I didn’t have the easiest start. I came to Tails as a pregnant stray after being found in an abandoned house. My labor was very difficult and I needed an emergency C-section, but I’m proud to say I raised seven healthy puppies and was a patient, loving mama. Now it’s finally my turn to just be a dog. I’ll be honest — I can be nervous and fearful with new people, especially at first. Once I feel safe though? I’m an absolute delight. On my walks, I’m calm, low-energy, and don’t pull much. I enjoy strolls, treats (which I take gently), and I even give sweet kisses once I trust you. I know sit and paw, I’m potty trained, and I’m easy to walk. I’ve spent time with cats and was very respectful — I even wanted to play!

I’m calm around other dogs, and I truly adore humans once I’m comfortable. I would do best in a quiet home with fewer people and an adopter who understands shy dogs and can help me build confidence. Because I can be possessive with items like food or toys, I need an experienced dog owner and a home without children under 12. Slow, relaxed introductions will help me succeed — and I really want to succeed. Oh, and I should mention my best features: my two different colored eyes and my big, beautiful smile. If you’re patient, kind, and looking for a laid-back, affectionate companion who just needs a little understanding, I might be your girl. Come meet me at Tails Humane Society in DeKalb — I’d love the chance to show you who I really am. Call 815.758.2457.
