DEKALB – Tails Humane Society will hold its annual Mutt Strut 5K Walk/Run on Saturday at 9 a.m. at Hopkins Park in DeKalb. Participants can run or walk 5 kilometers or choose a one-mile option, with registration fees supporting shelter operations and care for displaced pets.
Executive Director Michelle Groeper described the fundraiser as “one of our largest community events.”
“We’re actually one of the few 5Ks in the Chicagoland area that welcomes dogs, as long as they’re friendly and getting along,” she said.
Registration is open online and available the morning of the event starting at 8 a.m. Proceeds benefit the more than 2,300 animals Tails Humane Society cares for each year.
