Illinois has advanced to the Sweet 16 in the Men’s NCAA Basketball Tournament Saturday night following a 76-55 win over VCU.
The Illini out scored VCU 41-27 in the second half after leading by 7 points at half time.
Andrej Stojakovic led Illinois with 21 points. Tomislav Ivisic also had 14 points and 11 rebounds as the Illini are now (26-8) for the season.
Terrence Hill Jr. had 17 points for VCU.
Illinois will play #2 seed Houston in the South Region on Thursday. The Cougars were winners over Texas A&M 88-57 to move their record to (30-6).
The game will be played in Houston.
