SPRINGFIELD – Severe weather could hit central and northern Illinois today. The National Weather Service says thunderstorms are expected to develop late this afternoon across the region. Matt Friedlein of the National Weather Service said hail could be the primary threat of this system.
”One thing we are concerned about is hail once again,” he said. “Storms should readily be able to produce at least small hail, and we are concerned some locations could get some decent sized hail too. So definitely something to be aware of later today.”
