ROCKFORD — A 35-year-old Rockford man has been charged with additional offenses in an ongoing home fraud and theft investigation by Illinois State Police. Authorities later identified him as Corey Roser. The Rockford Police Department requested the investigation into his on duty and off duty business practices for alleged offenses in 2024 and 2025 and placed him on administrative leave at the start of the probe. In February, Roser was charged in Winnebago County with five counts of theft of property over $500 but less than $10,000, four counts of home repair fraud and one count of official misconduct. Authorities said new victims and evidence were later identified and he has now been charged with two counts of theft by deception and one count of burglary for incidents in McHenry County and DeKalb County. He turned himself in on March 4th to the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office. The investigation remains ongoing and state police are asking anyone with information to contact investigators.
