ROCHELLE – The Rochelle City Council on Monday approved an ordinance removing limitations on the sale of alcoholic beverages on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Previously, local liquor establishments had to stop selling alcohol at 7 p.m. on Dec. 24 and remain closed for all alcohol sales on Dec. 25. Under the amendment, businesses may now follow their regular operating hours on both holidays. City officials said the change modernizes local liquor regulations, provides consistency for license holders, and supports local business operations while remaining compliant with state law.
