ROCHELLE — Rochelle Township High School district officials said plans for a 6-acre solar array on the western portion of the campus are on an indefinite pause. The project would have included nearly 5 acres of solar panels and was expected to generate enough electricity to cover more than 80 percent of the school’s needs. Financial projections estimated savings of over 7 million dollars over 30 years, with an initial cost of 3.79 million dollars largely offset by federal tax credits and state incentives. District officials said the pause is due to timing issues that could reduce the financial benefits, and they will continue exploring options to save on energy costs.
