Rochelle Elementary Board Approves Food Management Contract and Summer Operations

ROCHELLE — The Rochelle Elementary District 231 Board of Education approved renewing its food management contract with Arbor Management, which includes a 2.5% price increase for the year.

In years past there would have been multiple bids for various food stocks, including milk, but Arbor Management will continue to service the district.  This will be the second year of the agreement.

Superintendent Dr. Jason Harper said some students have given positive feedback.

“We’ve been very happy with our first year experience with Arbor Management. They’ve done a nice job coming in, offering a variety of healthy options for our students and staff. And as I mentioned in the meeting, it’s not very often that you hear, you know, grade school age kids bragging to adults about how they tried spinach or broccoli or some other sort of green leafy vegetable for the day,” hea said. “So we appreciate everything that Arbor’s relationship and opportunity has provided us. And we look forward to another great school year.”

The board also approved a resolution to authorize continued summer business operations for the district.
