Rochelle Cuts Ribbon On New Water Facility

ROCHELLE — The City of Rochelle marked the completion of its reconstructed Well 8 water facility Monday, finishing a 7.4 million dollar project at 1015 South Caron Road that improves water quality and system reliability, city officials said. The project was funded through the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency State Revolving Fund with full principal forgiveness, resulting in no cost to local ratepayers, and allows Rochelle Municipal Utilities to treat up to 2.6 million gallons of water per day.

The upgraded facility includes a new iron removal filter and the ability to address radium in the future, with RMU Superintendent of Water and Water Reclamation Adam Lanning saying, “It’s a well that’s designed to treat 2.6 million gallons a day. It is a filter plant that’s designed to remove iron and it has the future capabilities of removing radium if that ever becomes a problem down the road.”
