OREGON — The Oregon City Council approved a $100,000 budget reallocation to cover the purchase of two new squad cars—an F-150 and an SUV—which have officially arrived at the police department. The transfer from the General Fund Contingency ensures the vehicles are fully funded within the current fiscal year.
In other city business, Public Works is pursuing state funding for a major wastewater infrastructure upgrade. City Manager Darin DeHaan explained that the city is seeking grant forgiveness for the proposed $9 million “Headworks” project following recent heavy rains that required constant manual labor at the facility. “It’s a $9 million project. So we want that forgiveness [through the EPA] if we can,” DeHaan said.
Additionally, the city is beginning plans for the 250th anniversary celebration. The committee is looking at a “Flag Day” event on June 14 with a goal of having 250 residents display American flags to mark the occasion.
