OREGON — Oregon officials have approved an engineering agreement to move forward with the long planned Bridge to Bridge river path project, a proposed walking and biking route along the west bank of the Rock River. The project remains in the planning phase. City Manager Darin DeHaan said the project is focused on improving connectivity, recreation, and accessibility, noting the path will ultimately tie into existing bike routes and sidewalks.
“ This has been an ongoing project in our long range plan. When we refer to Bridge to Bridge, we’re talking about a path that starts on South Second Street by the Trestle Bridge, and comes through the Park District through the Old Street Garage, through the New Street garage, past the Moring Property, and then connects with First Street.” he said.
The newly approved engineering work, proposed at a cost of $52,300, includes survey work, design, permitting, and bid preparation, with Fehr-Graham indicating the project could be ready for bid by August and construction potentially beginning in fall 2026.
