Ogle County Board Approves 2MW Solar Farm in Lincoln Township

OREGON — The Ogle County Board approved a special use permit December 16 to allow construction of a 2-megawatt commercial solar energy facility on 17 acres in Lincoln Township south of Forreston. The project, proposed by Summit Ridge Energy operating as Forreston IL Solar 1, LLC, will lease 17 acres for the solar farm while the remaining 30 acres of the 47-acre parcel will remain farmland. The facility is located in the 12000 block of West Grove Road. The Ogle County Zoning Board of Appeals held a public hearing on October 30 and recommended conditions for approval, and the County Board adopted those findings with amendments. The ordinance passed 20-2 Tuesday night in front of the full board.
