SPRINGFIELD — The office of Illinois Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias is revealing the list of rejected personalized license plates in 2025. More than 500 vanity and personalized license plates were shot down after being deemed too obscene or defamatory. Illinois vehicle owners pay an extra fee for a new vanity or personalized plate. Nearly 800-thousand vehicles statewide have the customizable plates.
