Hillcrest Board Reviews Hemstock Bridge Repair Options

HILLCREST — Hillcrest Village officials heard an update on the Hemstock Bridge Tuesday as engineers reported a temporary repair estimate of about $85,000. Hillcrest Village President Richard Rhoads said he was hopeful repairs could start sooner than later after a conversation with the village engineer.

“ She said that she was gonna get with her bridge engineer and see if we can start earlier than the spring. But for right now, the spring is the target for the repairs to get it open, and then we don’t know how long it’s gonna take to get any kind of grant money, because this could run anywhere up to a million dollars to replace this bridge,” Roads said, “That’s, that’s a big chunk of change.”

The bridge remains closed as Baxter and Woodman engineers work with Reliance Contractors on potential options. A detailed review of replacement and grant options are expected at the January board meeting.
