Driver in Critical Condition Following Single-Vehicle Crash in Sandwich

DEKALB – A 26-year old driver of a vehicle in DeKalb County is in critical condition after a single vehicle crash Sunday night. DeKalb County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the 1400 block of N Castle St in Sandwich around 6:45 p.m. for a report of a crash. The vehicle had been southbound on Castle Street south of Pratt Road when for unknown reasons the vehicle traveled onto the shoulder of the roadway and then lost control traveling over the northbound lane of traffic and left the roadway striking a tree. The driver of the vehicle was transported to Valley West Hospital by ambulance and then flown to OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center where they remained in critical condition. The crash remains under investigation.
