Byron Woman Arrested After Brief Foot Pursuit Following Traffic Stop

BYRON —  A 31-year-old Byron woman is facing multiple charges after allegedly fleeing a traffic stop. Ogle County Sheriff’s deputies conducted a traffic stop Tuesday afternoon near North Maple Avenue and West 2nd Street in Byron, where the driver, Samantha R Norup, reportedly fled on foot. Deputies pursued Norup and took her into custody after a brief chase. She was charged with resisting or obstructing a peace officer, driving while license was suspended, and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was transported to the Ogle County Jail and later released on a notice to appear. Deputies were assisted by the Byron Police Department
