BYRON — The Byron City Council has appointed Patricia Diduch as city administrator, succeeding the retiring Brian Brooks, who has held the position since 2023 and served as Byron’s first city administrator in the 1990s. Diduch has been planning and development administrator for the Village of Rockton since 2013 and previously worked in Wilmette, New Lenox, Machesney Park, and the Rockford Region Economic Development District. A University of Illinois graduate with certification from the American Institute of Certified Planners, she will begin her duties August 25th. She noted that she sees this as a homecoming of sorts.
“It’s a highly sought place to come live and raise a family. And I think the combination of the experience I bring as well as, first experiencing Byron in my teens, it’s just kind of a cool circle of life to kind of have my paths circle back here and now be able to kind of do what I had dreamed of back when I was a teenager driving through it to visit my brother.”
