Rochelle Enacts Four Way Stop at Main Street and Fifth Avenue

ROCHELLE — The Rochelle City Council passed an ordinance that would make the intersection of North Main Street and Fifth Avenue a four way stop Monday night. City officials said the downtown intersection sees more than 1,600 vehicles each day and is near the Rochelle Fire Department and several municipal parking lots. Officials also said current downtown construction projects are expected to increase vehicle and pedestrian traffic in the area. City staff recommended the change after reviewing traffic conditions and federal traffic control guidelines, saying the four way stop would improve traffic flow and safety.
