SYCAMORE — Give DeKalb County returns May 7 as a 24 hour community wide fundraising campaign supporting local nonprofit organizations across DeKalb County, with online giving, mail in donations beginning April 23, and an in person drop off event at the DeKalb County Community Foundation in Sycamore. The campaign, coordinated by the DeKalb County Nonprofit Partnership, has raised more than $12.8 million since its launch and includes a Bonus Pool that increases the impact of each gift through community support.
Director Ben Bingle said, “Over 3,000 donors made 9,385 gifts last year, and so if we can approach that 3,000 number of donors this year, we’re going to be over the moon. We’ve only done that two other times, so that’s a big number for us, and to be close to 10,000 gifts is unbelievable. We have a long list of community partners that are visible at givedekalbcounty.org. That’s where we recognize our bonus pool donors. Really, anyone can give to the bonus pool. If you’re an individual out there and you want to support all of the participating nonprofits, that’s a great option for you. Otherwise, we have businesses, foundations, different organizations that come alongside our efforts and support the bonus pool. It ensures that every dollar goes further here in Give DeKalb County.”
Organizers said results will continue to come in after the campaign as mail in donations are processed, with a final total expected within about two weeks.
