ROCHELLE — An adult woman was injured after being struck by a train Saturday evening at the North Main Street and Second Avenue railroad crossing, according to Rochelle police. Officers and firefighters responded around 5:38 p.m. and found the woman next to the tracks with severe injuries to her lower extremities. She was conscious and breathing at the scene. Rochelle EMS took her to Rochelle Hospital and she was later flown to Rockford for further treatment. Preliminary information indicates the train was stopped or moving slowly when the woman tried to climb over it and fell. The Rochelle Police Department and Union Pacific police continue to investigate. Anyone with information is asked to call 815 562 2131.
