DAVIS JUNCTION — The Village of Davis Junction has been named a 2025 Fields of Excellence Award winner by Pioneer Athletics in recognition of its athletic field maintenance and facility care. As part of the award, the village will receive a certificate of recognition and a Fields of Excellence banner to display at its field, and the site may be featured in Pioneer Athletics publications and its annual calendar. The program, established in 1997, recognizes schools, parks departments, and communities nationwide for excellence in athletic field upkeep and has honored more than 1,100 fields since its creation. A judging process selected 94 winners this year from a large group of applicants that included colleges, universities, high schools, and park districts. Pioneer Athletics officials said the program highlights the work of grounds crews and volunteers who maintain sports facilities, and applications are accepted each year from organizations that maintain outdoor athletic fields.
