DIXON — The Lee County Sheriff Office has added a new feature to its Sheriff App that allows residents to sign up for notifications when a deer carcass becomes available. Citizens who submit their information through the app will be placed on a call list and contacted when their name comes up, with the option to accept the deer or pass so the next person can be notified. Anyone who accepts a deer must still apply for a salvage deer tag through the Illinois Department of Natural Resources within 24 hours of taking possession. The sheriff office says the system provides an organized process while helping ensure deer are put to use. Residents can sign up through the Deer Carcass Notification form in the More section of the app, pick up a form at the sheriff office, or request one by email.
